Kontroll (2003)

Filmed in Budapest, Hungary, the trailer for this movie looks sick and I can't wait to see it. In the meantime I'm content to watch this great on-foot chase in the subway station. Dude runs funny but he makes it work for him in a lot of ways. I love how much everyone crashes into one another, and the best part hands down is when the dude suddenly toboggans his body down the side of a steep underground escalator. Slick, slick move.

The French Connection (1971)

I was told that this chase scene, as well as the one from "Bullitt" with Steve McQueen, just HAD to be put on the site. I saw the Bullitt chase, which is cool because it actually careens through real streets in nice long shots.... but the chase itself bored me after a while. Gene Hackman, on the other hand, displays the appropriate emotions in this scene for making me want to put it up here. That, and he's pursuing a train, and I love when there are two different forms of transportation invovled.

Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)

There are two good chase scenes in the otherwise totally ridiculous (though still, of course, superfun) Brosnonion Bond-movie Tomorrow Never Dies. Its about some media mogul slash terrorist ("Theres no news... like bad news. BWAAAAHAHA!"). ...but plot rarely makes its way into chase scenes.

The first is thanks to Q, as it is entirely a chase in which Bond gets to show off, rubbing the fact that he gets the coolest cars on the planet in everyones faces. To rub it in that much more, he also simply disposes of them like snot-filled tissues.

The second is thanks to my dearest love Michelle Yeoh, one of the few Bond girls who is not only hot but kicks as much ass as Bond. They still have her handcuffed to him and straddling him on a motorcycle, and they even get her all wet by the end of it, but... its just not degrading, it just makes her even awesomer. Theres some great rooftop-helicopter-motorcycle stunts and even a little bit of the totally indespensible Destroyed Marketplace.

Who? Where? and How!?

If anyone can identify this car chase I would be soooo apprecaitive!
The guy gets bumped by the Po twice and manages to come out of it, he also rides backwards being pushed along a meridian by a cop car for a while, and comes out on the other side...naturally it ends in a pig pile of police brutality... or maybe they all really wanna give him a pat on the back for a job really, really well done!

Orange County CA, April 2009

(REAL CHASE): A seriously fun high speed car chase from April of 2009 in Orange County, CA. The woman dumb as a sack of dead doornails but she had balls. The female commentators are over the moon giddy, which is actually the best part in a way.

Just a Little Stunt

Pulled from "The Man with the Golden Gun", Bond as played by Roger Moore. I can't sleep tonight so I'm looking at good car stunts. This one is darn good... except for that terrible slide whistle!!!

Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior (2003)

Starring the mind-explodingly amazing Tony Jaa. Love this scene. Pursued by a whole mess of angry dudes, the peaceful monk runs through the marketplace- managing to jump over, around, and through all obstacles in his path without so much as ruffling a feather. His clumsy friend and their angry pursuers are ...less lucky. The best moment? At the end, when he gets cornered. You'll see why.

Supercop, aka 'Police Story 3', 'Chao ji ji hua' (1993)

Another Chan scene, this time from 'Supercop'. Michelle Yeoh is awesome in this. The second half of the movie is basically one big chase scene but these two videos manage to Include: car and helicopter chasing, Chan hanging from a helicopter, Yeoh riding on top of a truck, Yeoh riding her motorcycle onto the top of a moving train, helicopter on train, fighting, human kindness, and of course a dash of Destroyed Marketplace. Sorry about that damn green text.

Enjoy!

WHO AM I? (1998) Jackie Chan

To kick off CHASE SCENES, a Jackie Chan chase from his co-directed, co-written, 1998 film "Wo Shi Shei", or "Who Am I?" A silly, silly movie.

INCLUDES: Handcuffed parkour, car stunts, an awesome girl, a stupid girl, comedy, Destroyed Marketplace, and displays of human kindness.
